Original artwork

Norway is a country with long and outstanding traditions in fine art. Ever since the days of Edvard Munch, Christian Krohg, Tidemand and Gude, Gustav Vigeland and many others, Norway has been known for its excellence and high standards. The Norwegian government has also understood the importance of art and has been supportive of artists and their organizations through constructive politics. It is within this tradition that we represent selected contemporary artists of Norway.

All of the works that we exhibit on our site are originals. We do not sell reproductions including giclee or digital prints. Paintings are always one of a kind, oil or acrylic. Monotypes are prints in which the artist paints directly on a glass or zinc plate before printing from 1 to 5 variations. Lithographs, woodcuts, etchings and screen prints are called multiple originals in that each print is one in a limited edition. A prerequsite is that the artist has created each individual plate from which an impression is printed. Colored works entail as many as 8 plates from which the artist has designed, drawn, and painted.

We feel it is important for us to make this distinction since so many so called fine art prints are merely mechanical reproductions of paintings.

Custom framing

All works are sent unframed unless otherwise specified. Select frames that harmonize well with the art work and your interior. Prints look best in silver, gold, black or white, and natural wood moldings. It is important that the matting is a shade of white and acid free, also behind the print. (We do not recommend colored mats that match the colors in the print.) UV glass is recommended. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
